电视纪录片《南海·南海》由中央电视台、中共海南省委宣传部、王马华睿影视文化传媒(北京)有限公司、南京大学中国南海研究协同创新中心联合摄制。全片以“中国南海·我们的家园”为主题,以挖掘和梳理历史事实为主线,以充分的法理依据为准绳,充分证明了南海诸岛及其相关海域自古以来属于中国的事实,同时也向世界准确传递中国的声音。 从2012年10月开始,《南海·南海》制作团队的七个摄制组分批挺进南海。摄制组乘坐军舰、公务船、渔船等各型舰船,奔赴散落在200多万平方公里上的南海岛礁及相关海域进行拍摄。这是中国电视人第一次如此大规模走进南海,也是第一次对南海有关岛礁和海域全覆盖、多角度、近距离记录。摄制组还跟踪采访近百人,讲述他们与南海的故事,足迹遍及国内的十多个省市,并远渡重洋前往美国、新加坡、马来西亚等国拍摄。
