民国时期，川东一带出了个樊傻儿。傻儿出生地主家，从小不喜读书却爱舞枪弄棒。他耿直憨厚，爱打抱不平的性格，为他惹了不少事端。他为穷苦百姓抢了自家的粮食而遭到叔公活埋。大难不死的傻儿又四处行侠仗义。他意外杀死了无恶不作的帮会老大崔一东，走上了从军的道路。傻儿并非真傻，他用他的智慧，步步高升为国民党某师师长。抗日战争爆发后，傻儿请缨杀敌，以少胜多大破日军坦克阵，当上了副司令。但傻儿很快被上级剥夺了军权，被贬江城。一路上，险象环生，傻儿险遭暗算，他施巧计将杀手击败。他在江城办了许多惊心动魄的事件，更一举消灭了以候敬堂为首的一伙贪官，傻儿智取侯敬堂一案，惹得众人皆知，百姓对他赞叹不已。而此时傻儿却弃官而走，开始了新的漂泊生涯。
