《开心魔法》可以看作是《开心鬼》的延续，也属于“旧瓶”装“新酒”，“《开心鬼》曾该系列主打‘开心’的概念，而《开心魔法》中不仅有喜剧的元素，还增添了魔幻色彩。”黄百鸣说。除了“开心”、“魔幻”两大元素，导演叶伟信透露，影片中的青春气息也是一大亮点，主要体现在女主角是位未满18岁的香港嫩模。当日活动中，这位女主角并未亮相，保持了“神秘感”。
