英国Sky Atlantic、法国Canal+与美国HBO联合制作影集《年轻教宗》（The Young Pope）由奥斯卡提名男星裘德洛（Jude Law）主演、奥斯卡最佳外语片《绝美之城》编导保罗索伦提诺（Paolo Sorrentino）打造，播出后获不少好评，制作人曾宣布会有第二季。不过日前拍摄计划生变，改成推出《新教宗》（The New Pope）作为续篇影集。
本作品是2019年7月至9月播出的《声音110紧急指令室》的续篇。本剧刻画了凭借直觉和行动力向前冲的刑警·樋口彰吾，以及拥有无论怎样细微的声音都能听出来的绝对听觉能力的橘光，他们与各种各样的事件对抗的模样。
