本作是私立菊玲学园高等学校雇佣的日本史担当的兼职讲师？本剧是以远藤一诚为主人公的校园剧。穿着湿漉漉的上学，带着其他上课的学生去采蘑菇，改造理科教室的人体模型做拳击练习用具等，完全不懂气氛，完全不做教师的样子的他，把烦恼重重的人们问到“为什么现在在那里？”的地方邀请的情况被描绘。
原名《When It Happens To You》，由Gwyneth Hughes创作，Alex Kalymnios执导。 本剧背景为还未修改立法前的北爱尔兰，故事发生在2013年至19年之间，讲述三位女性和她们家庭的真实经历，探索围绕北爱尔兰堕胎问题展开的激烈争论。 1967年的堕胎法案，允许了女性在英国进行堕胎，但该法案当时并未覆盖北爱尔兰地区。

舞台は、南極の昭和基地から離れる事1000キロ、標高3800ｍ、平均気温マイナス54度、世界で最も過酷な観測地帯と言われる「ドーム基地」。生物はおろかウイルスさえも生存する事が許されない、地の果てである。この物語は、第38次隊の7人の「南極観測隊」の話である。7人のうち3人が研究者。後の4人は設営隊員（サポート要員）である。しかし、結局は、ただの7人のオジサンである。そんな、ただの7人のオジサンが、狭いドーム基地で1年間を一緒に暮らすのだ。このドーム基地での楽しみといえば、みんなで美味しい料理を食べる時のみ。それ以外の、楽しみはほとんどない。あるのは、厳しさ・過酷さ・息苦しさ・ストレス・不安・心細さ。極限状況であるが、逃げる場所もなければ、頼る人も隊員以外にいない。そんなシチュエーション、蚊帳の外から見れば滑稽でしかないのだ。日本では考えられない事件が起こるが、最後は、主人公の西村隊員の美味しい料理を食する事で、7人が再び１つになっていく。実にダサくて、カッコよくて、でもバカバカしい、７人のオジサンの予測不可能なコメディドラマである。
