这是一部纪念妈妈的电影。《妈妈和七天的时间》是一个讲述20世纪90年代在中国农村七天发生的故事。故事里记载了小咸，一个十二岁女孩对家庭和村庄的记忆。在这七天里，发生了三次死亡和两次出生。
本片荣获2005年捷克卡罗维发利国际电影节特别提携FICC奖、2007年横滨电影节最佳新人奖（吉高由里子）。
